Tenerife Car Hire - Essential Information.

• When collecting your hire car You will need your passport, driving licence and booking reference.
• Always ensure that the price you are paying for your hire vehicle includes full insurance.
• In the event of a breakdown call the car hire company.
• When driving around Tenerife always have your driving licence and hire company paperwork with you, because if you are stopped by the police for any reason these must be produced.
• When visiting a petrol station in Tenerife it is normal for the attendant to fill your car for you, you just need to let them know how much fuel you would like. The normal fuel is unleaded (sin plomo). Most of the main road petrol stations take credit card but you will need cash for petrol stations in more remote areas. Please note that many petrol stations are closed on Sundays and bank holidays.
• The speed limit on motorways is 100-120kmp while the speed limit on all other main roads is 90kmp and in towns is usually 60kmp. There should be signs noting the limits so always keep a check of these.
• Seat belts are compulsory for all passengers and children under the age of 10 must ride in the back seats.
• Please remember that in Tenerife you drive on the right hand side of the road.
